A Ryanair flight from Malaga to Edinburgh was met by emergency services on Wednesday morning after experiencing a 'minor technical issue'. Flight FR5090 transmitted a 7700 squawk code, the signal for a general emergency, before landing safely at Edinburgh Airport just after 8am.
Incident Details
Ryanair confirmed the aircraft experienced a minor technical issue and was inspected by engineers as standard procedure. A spokesperson said: 'This flight from Malaga to Edinburgh (22 July) experienced a minor technical issue before landing normally at Edinburgh Airport. Passengers disembarked normally and the aircraft was subsequently inspected by our engineers in accordance with established procedures.'
Separate Incident
In a separate incident on the budget airline, a man was recently sucked out the window and had to be held down by terrified passengers. Ljubisa Karović, 61, was travelling from Thessaloniki in Greece to Memmingen in Germany when the window next to him shattered. Objects onboard began flying through the air and out of the window as people around him, including his wife, desperately tried to keep him held down. He was left with burns and bruises on his right arm and must wear a neck brace for at least six weeks. Mr Karović told The Guardian: 'The explosion is what I remember. It's the noise before the chaos, the noise that is always there when I close my eyes to sleep. I am lucky. I don’t remember much, and my head and neck still hurt, but I am still alive. It could have been the seatbelt, the fact that I was still strapped in. But maybe it is fate. I believe in God, and I thank him every day.'
