Royal Mail has announced that there will be no deliveries or collections of mail in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and certain areas of Scotland on Monday, August 31, due to the Summer Bank Holiday. The postal service normally delivers letters and parcels to residential and business addresses six days each week.
Scottish postcodes unaffected
Standard operations will restart from Tuesday, September 1, and several Scotland postcodes remain unaffected, as they do not observe the bank holiday, Royal Mail has said. These are as follows: DG13, EH43-EH46, G, HS1-HS3, HS6, KA (excluding 6, 7 and 8), KW15-KW17, ML1-ML12, PA1-PA20, PA22-PA28, PA30-PA35, PA37-38, PA42, PA45, PA60, PH1, PH2, PH14, TD3, TD4-TD6, TD10-TD12, TD14, ZE1-ZE2.
Notting Hill Carnival impact
Royal Mail has also confirmed that, because of the Notting Hill Carnival, some deliveries and collections in the surrounding area may be impacted between August 29 and August 31. This is due to road closures and limited access.
Current disruption list
Several UK regions are presently experiencing postal disruption beyond these circumstances, Royal Mail has stated. The postal service explained this is "due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors", and offered its apologies for any inconvenience.
