Eight men arrested following a 'large disturbance' involving football fans at Peterborough train station have been released under investigation, British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed on Monday.
Officers were called to the station at 7.50pm on Saturday after reports of a disturbance. Seven men were initially detained on suspicion of breaching the peace, with a further arrest made later. The Eastern Daily Press reported that Newcastle fans were allegedly involved, along with supporters of Ipswich Town and Norwich City, but the teams supported by those arrested have not been confirmed.
A BTP spokesperson said: 'Officers quickly attended alongside colleagues from Cambridgeshire Police and seven men were arrested on suspicion of breaching the peace. Inquiries are currently ongoing.' The force has urged anyone with information to contact them quoting reference 573 of 17/08/19.
All eight men have now been released under investigation as inquiries continue.
