Police hunt suspect after multiple stabbings on Scottish train

British Transport Police have launched a major manhunt after a horrifying knife attack aboard a Scottish train left multiple passengers injured. The violent incident occurred on a ScotRail service travelling between Glasgow Queen Street and Oban on Thursday evening, sending shockwaves through the rural communities served by the route.

Authorities have now released crucial CCTV footage showing a man they urgently wish to trace in connection with the mass stabbing. The images capture the suspect wearing distinctive clothing, including a black jacket with the hood raised, dark trousers, and carrying a black backpack.

Chaos Aboard the West Highland Line Service

The attack unfolded around 9:15 PM as the train approached its destination, creating scenes of panic and terror among passengers. Emergency services rushed to the scene at Oban railway station, where multiple ambulance crews treated the wounded.

Police Scotland confirmed they assisted British Transport Police with the incident, describing it as a "serious assault" that required a significant response from both forces and the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Appeal for Information from Witnesses

Detective Superintendent Sam Blackburn from British Transport Police has made an urgent public appeal for information. "We are working tirelessly to trace the man responsible for this terrifying incident," he stated.

"The released CCTV shows a man we believe has crucial information about this attack. If you recognise him, or if you were on the train and witnessed what happened, please contact us immediately."

Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who travelled on the 15:37 service from Glasgow Queen Street to Oban on Thursday, February 29th. The train made several stops along the scenic West Highland Line route, including at Dumbarton Central, Helensburgh Upper, and various smaller stations before reaching Oban.

Community in Shock After Violent Outburst

The attack has left the normally peaceful communities along the route deeply unsettled. Local councillors have expressed their shock at the violence, describing such incidents as extremely rare in the area.

One regular commuter on the route told reporters: "This is a line used by tourists and locals alike - it's normally such a peaceful journey through beautiful scenery. To think something so violent happened is absolutely terrifying."

British Transport Police have assured the public that additional officers will be conducting high-visibility patrols in the area to provide reassurance to concerned travellers.
