A routine flight from London to Turkey turned into a nightmare scenario when a disruptive passenger triggered an emergency landing after allegedly flooding the aircraft's toilet and assaulting cabin crew members.
Chaos at 30,000 Feet
The Corendon Airlines flight, carrying holidaymakers from London to Turkey, was forced to divert to Bulgaria following what witnesses described as "utter chaos" unfolding mid-flight.
According to reports from fellow passengers, the trouble began when a male passenger became increasingly disruptive before allegedly flooding not one, but two aircraft toilets.
Emergency Measures
"The crew tried to calm him down but he became aggressive," one witness recounted. "He started shouting and pushing people - it was terrifying being trapped in a metal tube at 30,000 feet with someone behaving like that."
The situation escalated to the point where cabin crew were forced to restrain the passenger using cable ties as a makeshift solution until the aircraft could reach safety.
Emergency Landing in Bulgaria
The pilot made the decision to initiate an emergency landing at Burgas Airport in Bulgaria, where authorities were waiting to take the disruptive passenger into custody.
Bulgarian police confirmed they arrested a 47-year-old British national following the incident. The passenger now faces serious charges related to his behaviour onboard the aircraft.
Passenger Ordeal
"We were stuck on the tarmac for hours while they dealt with everything," another passenger explained. "What should have been a straightforward holiday flight turned into this massive ordeal because of one person's actions."
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences facing passengers who disrupt flights, with airlines and authorities taking increasingly tough stances against such behaviour.
The flight eventually continued to its original destination after the lengthy delay, leaving passengers to finally begin their holidays after the unexpected drama.
