A major fire broke out at Paignton train station in Devon on the morning of July 21, causing significant transport disruption. Witnesses reported seeing flames and a large plume of smoke filling the sky.
Road Closures and Emergency Response
Torbay Road and Hyde Road have been closed in both directions following the fire, which started in the early hours. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service deployed seven fire engines to the scene, according to Devon Live.

National Rail announced that all lines are closed due to the fire, which also damaged the signalling system. Train services are suspended between Newton Abbot and Paignton, with disruption expected to last throughout the day.

Great Western Railway confirmed that some of their services will be cancelled or suspended, and that Torre, Torquay, and Paignton will not be served due to the blocked line. A Great Western Railway spokesperson stated: "Due to a fire at Paignton station, the line is blocked. Train services running to and from this station will be cancelled or suspended between Newton Abbot and Paignton. Torre, Torquay and Paignton will not be served."
