A main road in Chirk was shut on Friday after an overturned lorry caused significant disruption. The incident occurred at the Halton Roundabout, leading to the closure of the southbound carriageway of the A483 between the roundabout and Ruabon.
Emergency Services Respond
Traffic Wales confirmed that emergency services were at the scene and advised motorists to expect delays. They also noted that there were delays on the northbound carriageway. North Wales Live reported the updates as the situation developed.
A North Wales Police spokesperson said at 3:25pm: "The A5 at Junction one, Halton roundabout in Chirk is currently closed in the southbound direction due to an overturned wagon. Please avoid the area and use alternative routes whilst emergency services are in attendance."
Recovery Operation Scheduled
In an update at 5:20pm on Friday, Traffic Wales stated: "Recovery will begin at 6:30pm, and the road will remain closed until the lorry has been recovered. Please use an alternative route and allow extra time for your journey."
Drivers were urged to plan their journeys accordingly and avoid the affected area to minimise delays.
