One person was airlifted to hospital following a collision in County Durham on Saturday 27 June 2026. Emergency services were called to the A689 near Wolsingham just after 1pm.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) attended the scene alongside paramedics from the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS). One patient was flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough for further treatment.
Road closure and response
The road was blocked while emergency crews responded to the incident but has since reopened and delays have cleared.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 1.03pm on Saturday 27 June to reports of a road traffic incident on the A689 near Wolsingham in County Durham. We dispatched an ambulance crew and a clinical team leader to the scene, and requested support from our colleagues at the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS). One patient was taken to James Cook hospital by air for further treatment."
