More than 100 roads will be closed across the bank holiday weekend for Notting Hill Carnival 2026, as up to two million revellers are expected to descend on west London's W10 district.
The Caribbean celebration will turn the streets into Europe's largest street party, with closures in place from 6am on Sunday (August 30) to 6am on Tuesday (September 1). Parking restrictions begin at 11:59pm on Saturday (August 29). Only pre-authorised vehicles and emergency services will be allowed to drive into the zone, and even residents will be denied access by car.
Notting Hill Gate closed for first time
For the first time in its history, Notting Hill Gate will be closed to motorists, except buses on Sunday and Monday. Traffic will be diverted via Addison Road, Kensington High Street, and Kensington Church Street.
Full road closure list includes Aldridge Road Villas, Alexander Mews, Bayswater Road, Chepstow Road, Elgin Avenue, Holland Park Avenue, Kensington Church Street, Ladbroke Grove, Moscow Road, Porchester Road, Queensway, Westbourne Grove, and many more.
Tube and bus disruption
Ladbroke Grove station will be closed all day, while Notting Hill Gate, Westbourne Park, Holland Park, Queensway, and Royal Oak may operate as exit-only from 11am. TfL regularly closes stations if they become too busy during carnival periods.
Several bus routes will be diverted, including 7, 18, 23, 27, 28, 31, 36, 52, 70, 228, 295, 302, 316, and 328, plus night buses N7, N27, N28, and N31. TfL will operate special services including 148X to Victoria and Vauxhall, 7X to East Acton, 36X to Harrow Road, 18X to Stonebridge Park, and 6X to Harrow Road.
Carnival-goers are advised to check before travelling, as stations may close at short notice if they become too busy.
