Rail services between Newcastle and Berwick are facing delays, cancellations and revisions after damage to an overhead line in Northumberland caused a power supply issue.

Damage at Alnmouth

A spokesperson for TransPennine Express said there is damage to the overhead wires at Alnmouth in the Alnwick area, and work is being carried out to resolve the issue.

Services operated by LNER, CrossCountry, Lumo, Northern and TransPennine Express may be impacted by the ongoing power supply issue.

Expected duration

The disruption has been ongoing since early this morning and is expected to continue into the afternoon. TransPennine Express said it is expected that a full fix of the overhead wires will be carried out this evening.
