Tesla has unveiled the latest version of its popular Model Y SUV, the Performance variant, which boasts a 0-60mph time of 3.3 seconds – comparable to a Ferrari Roma. First deliveries are expected in October, with the car already on display in showrooms.
The Model Y Performance features aerodynamic tweaks that reduce drag by 10 per cent and lift by 64 per cent, alongside a 27 per cent improvement in front-to-rear lift balance. It also gains Performance Red brake callipers, gloss black trim, a carbon fibre spoiler, sportier front seats, and carbon fibre interior accents.
Under the skin, the SUV gets adaptive suspension, upgraded chassis components, and new 21-inch wheels with bespoke tyres. The four-wheel-drive powertrain produces 454bhp and offers a maximum range of 360 miles, with a top speed of 155mph.
The cabin features a 16-inch central touchscreen with higher resolution and thinner bezels than the standard 15.4-inch display. Driving modes include Standard and Sport for the adaptive suspension, plus Stability Assist settings that can be reduced for more dynamic driving.
Priced at £61,990, the Model Y Performance is £10,000 more than the Long Range All-Wheel Drive version. However, rivals such as the MG IM6 Performance offer similar performance for £50,995, though with a lower range of 313 miles.
