A new direct rail service has been launched connecting Prague and Copenhagen, marking the first such direct connection in over a decade. Operated by the Czech company České dráhy, the service began on 1 May 2026, initially running two trains daily with a temporary detour through Germany that extends the journey time slightly.
Full Service Expansion
From 14 June, the service will expand to full operation, with three trains running in each direction daily. The journey will take approximately 11 hours to complete, offering a convenient and scenic alternative to air travel between the two major European cities.
Route and Pricing
The trains will travel via Dresden, Berlin, and Hamburg, providing passengers with picturesque views along the way. Tickets start from CZK 1,600, which is approximately £57, making this an affordable travel option.
Onboard Experience
Passengers will travel on České dráhy's ComfortJet trains, which are equipped with ergonomic seats, air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, power sockets at every seat, and a dining car. These amenities ensure a comfortable and enjoyable journey for all travellers.
The reintroduction of this direct rail link is expected to boost tourism and business travel between the Czech Republic and Denmark, offering a sustainable and efficient mode of transport.
