Tube services in north London are facing a third day of significant disruption following a major fire near Wembley Stadium.
Around 125 firefighters were sent to a mixed waste facility on an industrial estate in Neasden just after 11.30am on Friday as the fire broke out. Huge plumes of smoke were visible in the sky in videos posted on social media, with firefighters still battling the blaze into the evening.
Impact on Tube services
The fire, which was close to rail lines, has affected the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines since it started. According to Transport for London’s service update page on Sunday, there is still no service between Baker Street and Aldgate on the Metropolitan line, with severe delays on the rest of the line. Severe delays are also reported on the Jubilee line, and Neasden station remains closed.
Rail and investigation
National Rail is not reporting any further delays to trains to and from London Marylebone after serious disruption on Friday and Saturday. The London Fire Brigade are continuing to investigate the fire.
