MSP praises Bathgate firm Jordan TM Ltd in haulage visit

Lothians West MSP Graham Simpson has praised the hard work of Bathgate-based Jordan TM Ltd following a recent visit to the company.

During the visit, Mr Simpson met with the team to discuss the challenges facing Scotland's road transport sector. Jordan TM Ltd, founded in 2016, provides nationwide freight transport, express and scheduled deliveries, and heavy goods work using articulated vehicles.

Key issues discussed

The Reform MSP was joined by RHA Scotland Policy Director Martin Reid. Discussions covered a range of areas affecting the haulage industry, including rising costs, recruiting new drivers, secure parking facilities, lowering taxation on alternative fuels, and driver welfare.

Martin Reid said: "We covered a range of priority areas facing our industry, including rising costs, recruiting new drivers, secure parking facilities, lowering taxation on alternative fuels and driver welfare."

Wellbeing charter highlighted

Mr Reid also noted: "We also discussed the RHA Wellbeing Charter which was recently released. Thanks to Colin Wilson and Gordon Foster for hosting."

Mr Simpson added: "The industry faces many challenges and has done for years. It was heartening to see a success story in Jordan TM Ltd."

Future focus

He continued: "There are many things to tackle though - skills, costs, facilities for drivers, regulations. I’ll continue to fight the haulage sector’s corner as the country relies on this key industry."
