Monklands motorists are advised to plan ahead and use diverted routes during a series of road closures scheduled for July 2026. The roadworks, which include carriageway surface dressing, ironwork repairs, and footway and carriageway patching, will affect several roads in Airdrie and surrounding areas.
Dykehead Road Closure
Carriageway surface dressing will lead to a five-day closure of Airdrie's Dykehead Road from July 13. The closure will run from Dalmacoulter Road to Ballochney Road. Diversions will be available via Ballochney Road, Airdriehill Road, the B8058 Airdriehill Street, and the A73 Stirling Road.
Kipps Byre Road and Whinhall Road
Kipps Byre Road and Whinhall Road in Airdrie will also be shut for five days of carriageway surface dressing starting July 13, between the B803 Coatbridge Road and Ballochney Street. Drivers are advised to use Burnfoot Road, Mavisbank Street, the B802 Commonside Street, and the B803 Glenmavis Road as alternative routes.
Inverlochy Road Ironwork Repairs
Ironwork repairs carried out by Scottish Water will see Airdrie's Inverlochy Road close from 9:30am until 9pm on July 16. The affected area will be between properties five and 15, and the only diversion will run on Inverlochy Road.
Bankhead Place and Ashgrove
Bankhead Place and Ashgrove in Airdrie, from Bankhead Avenue to Ashgrove, will be closed all day on July 18. BT is due to carry out maintenance and testing works, and Willow Drive and Pine Street will act as diverted routes.
Forsyth Street Closure
Finally, Forsyth Street in Airdrie town centre will be shut for a 24-hour period on July 24 for footway and carriageway patching works. Motorists will be able to use the A89 Clark Street, Graham Street, Baillies Lane, and Hallcraig Street as alternative routes. The area shut down will run from the A89 Clark Street to Johnston Street.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and follow diversion signs. For more local news, sign up to the Lanarkshire Live newsletter or download the app.
