Metrolink delays on Airport Line after broken down tram

Passengers on the Manchester Airport Line are facing disruption this evening after a broken down tram earlier halted services between two stops. No trams are able to call between Wythenshawe Town Centre and Manchester Airport, affecting Shadowmoss, Peel Hall and Robinswood Road stops as well.

Broken down tram at Peel Hall

Traffic service Inrix reported that the issue was due to a broken down tram at Peel Hall. They said: "No service on Manchester Metrolink between Wythenshawe Town Centre and Manchester Airport due to broken down tram at Peel Hall".

Transport for Greater Manchester said the disruption follows a tram fault on the line. Passengers will continue to face delays.

Bee Network buses as alternative

Passengers are being advised to use Bee Network buses as an alternative, with Metrolink tickets being accepted on several services. A Bee Network spokesperson wrote on X: "Due to a tram fault, there is currently no tram service between Wythenshawe Town Centre and Manchester Airport."

Recovery time unknown

On the Bee Network travel updates page, the service added: "To continue your journey by bus, please visit our journey planner. Please select ‘options’ and check only the bus icon is highlighted. This feature is also available on the Bee Network app where you can also find bus tracking information."

In addition to public transport, there are several destinations on this line that can be easily reached by walking. It is not yet known when services will be fully restored.
