Manchester Airport is expecting its busiest summer on record, with more than 5.7 million passengers flying in and out between Friday, July 17 and September 1. This means over 120,000 passengers per day will pass through the airport during the school holidays.
Guidance for passengers
Manchester Airport has issued guidance on packing, security and travel to and from the airport. This week, the airport released images of nearly 100 items seized at security in one morning, including gun-shaped toys, yoghurts and 12 pairs of scissors.
Passengers must follow Civil Aviation Authority rules for hand luggage: liquids in containers of 100ml or less, no sharp objects or blades longer than 6cm (2.3in), and nothing designed to look like a firearm.
Metrolink disruption
Extensive Metrolink maintenance work until August 2 means no trams run through the city centre. The Altrincham, Eccles and Trafford Park lines are suspended. East Didsbury and Airport line trams terminate at Firswood. Tram replacement buses operate between Exchange Square and Rochdale, Bury and Piccadilly, and Piccadilly and Ashton-under-Lyne.

According to Flight Radar 24, several flights from Manchester Airport are delayed by more than 30 minutes. No cancellations have been reported for Monday.
