Manchester Airport flights delayed July 22 record summer

Manchester Airport is expecting its busiest summer on record, with more than 5.7 million passengers expected between July 17 and September 1. This equates to over 120,000 passengers daily.

The airport connects the north west with over 200 destinations worldwide. Many travellers are heading to popular European countries like Spain and Greece, while others are going further afield.

Travel advice and transport disruption

Passengers are urged to plan ahead for smooth journeys. Metrolink maintenance until August 2 means no trams on the Altrincham, Eccles and Trafford Park lines, while East Didsbury and Airport lines terminate at Firswood. Bus replacement services are in place.

The 100ml liquid limit for hand luggage remains, but new CT scanners mean liquids and electronics do not need to be removed. The airport warns that children's 'squishy' toys may be classified as liquids and should be packed in hold luggage.
