Manchester Airport is preparing for its busiest summer on record as schools break up for the holidays across the country from Friday July 17. More than 5.7 million passengers are expected to travel through the airport between July 17 and September 1, equating to over 120,000 passengers per day.
Travel Advice and Metrolink Works
The airport has urged passengers to plan their journeys carefully due to extensive Metrolink maintenance works until August 2. No trams are operating on the Altrincham, Eccles, and Trafford Park lines, while the East Didsbury and Airport lines terminate at Firswood. Bus replacement services are in place. Trams will operate between Exchange Square and Rochdale, between Bury and Piccadilly, and between Piccadilly and Ashton-under-Lyne.
Liquid Restrictions and Security Reminders
Passengers must still comply with the 100ml limit for liquids in hand luggage, although new CT security scanners mean travellers do not need to remove liquids or electronic devices from bags. The airport warns that children's 'squishy' toys can be classified as liquids and should be packed in hold luggage to avoid confiscation.
