A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the M62 early Tuesday morning, with part of the motorway still closed.
Crash Details
Merseyside Police received a report of a single-car collision on the westbound carriageway at around 4:15am on June 16. The incident occurred between junction eight at Warrington and junction seven at Rainhill, near Liverpool.
All three lanes of the westbound carriageway remain shut as emergency services deal with the aftermath. National Highways confirmed the closure, stating there is no estimated time for reopening.
Traffic Impact
Traffic monitoring service Inrix reports queues stretching back approximately four miles to junction nine at Winwick. The eastbound carriageway is also experiencing slow traffic due to onlookers. Google Maps and Traffic England predict the road will be cleared by around 11:30am to 11:45am.
Eyewitness Account
An eyewitness who drove past the scene described the situation as "all a bit mad," with many vehicles stuck and some turning around on the motorway. The car involved had come to a halt on the grass bank.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes until the carriageway reopens.
