Major train disruption is affecting Liverpool services after an emergency incident on Wednesday morning. Passengers travelling to and from Liverpool are facing significant delays after emergency services closed a railway line in Lancashire.

Closure of Key Railway Lines

National Rail has confirmed that all lines between Preston and Bolton/Wigan North Western are currently closed while emergency services deal with an incident in the area. As a result, trains are unable to run between Preston and Bolton in either direction, with several services cancelled, delayed, or revised.

Delays of Up to 60 Minutes

Rail operators have warned passengers that journeys could be delayed by up to 60 minutes. The disruption is affecting services on several key routes, including trains between Liverpool Lime Street and Blackpool North.

National Rail said: "The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Preston and Bolton/Wigan North Western. Whilst they complete their work, all lines are closed. Trains between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised."
