The M65 motorway in Lancashire has reopened following a seven-vehicle collision that caused its closure on Wednesday evening. The eastbound carriageway was shut between Junction 8 (Hapton) and Junction 10 (Burnley) shortly after 8pm, with the road fully reopened by around 10pm.
National Highways confirmed that Lancashire Constabulary led the response, with ambulance and fire crews also in attendance. Early reports indicated no serious injuries, but the road was kept closed due to the number of vehicles involved and emergency services personnel on scene.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson advised motorists to seek alternative routes and allow extra travel time. The force later updated that the road had reopened, thanking the public for their patience.
The incident involved seven vehicles, and all emergency services attended. Initially, there were reports of a closure in both directions, but it was later confirmed that only the eastbound carriageway was affected.
