Traffic on the M60 in Manchester was held on Tuesday morning after police responded to concerns for a man's welfare. The clockwise carriageway was closed between junction 22 at the Hollinwood Interchange in Oldham and junction 23 at the Snipe Interchange in Ashton-under-Lyne, with the A635 Manchester Road also shut.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a man was safely recovered just before 7am. The force was called at around 5am following welfare concerns. Fire service personnel also attended the scene in Tameside to support the police-led incident.
National Highways reported that the clockwise lanes have since reopened, but queues remain on the approach to junction 22, stretching back to junction 20 at the Alkrington Interchange. Delays of over 20 minutes were experienced during the closure.
Motorists were advised to follow the solid diamond diversion symbol on road signs while heading clockwise. National Highways stated that due to the nature of the incident, no estimated duration for the closure could be provided initially.
