Drivers faced long delays on the M6 motorway near Warrington this afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash. Two lanes were closed on the southbound stretch between junctions 21A and 21, leading to queues stretching up to four miles.
National Highways reported the incident, which caused delays of around 30 minutes for motorists. The crash occurred near the Croft Interchange, and traffic was backed up significantly as emergency services attended the scene.
All lanes were reopened by around 2pm, according to traffic alert service Inrix. However, drivers were advised to expect residual delays as the backlog cleared.
The incident caused disruption on a key route, with motorists urged to seek alternative routes where possible. No details on injuries or the number of vehicles involved have been released.
