The M6 motorway remains closed between junctions 21 and 21A in Cheshire following a serious crash in the early hours of Saturday, March 7, in which a pedestrian was struck by several vehicles and died at the scene. Cheshire Police were called at around 2:50am to the northbound carriageway near Warrington.
Traffic monitoring service Inrix reported that the incident involved two lorries and four cars. The northbound closure has been in place since 3am, with diversions in effect. A separate closure between junctions 28 and 30 in Lancashire, also linked to the same crash, has now been lifted.
In a related development, Tebay services in Cumbria, approximately 80 miles from the crash site, has been cordoned off for forensic examination of a vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
