Drivers on the M6 southbound are experiencing delays of up to 70 minutes this evening following a fuel spillage from a broken-down heavy goods vehicle (HGV).
Incident Details
One lane of the southbound carriageway and the entry slip road at junction 31 near Preston have been closed. National Highways reported that the HGV suffered a 'substantial' fuel spillage, leading to the ongoing disruption.
Impact on Traffic
There are currently eight miles of congestion on approach to the scene. Live traffic cameras show significant queues of traffic building on the motorway. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time or seek alternative routes.
