Emergency services were called to a serious collision involving two lorries on the M6 near Stoke-on-Trent on Bank Holiday Monday, causing major traffic disruption. The incident occurred on the southbound carriageway between junction 15 for Stoke-on-Trent and junction 14 for Stafford.
National Highways confirmed a full closure was in place while police, fire and rescue, and West Midlands Ambulance Service worked at the scene. The crash involved two heavy goods vehicles, leading to delays of at least 45 minutes and four miles of congestion.
Diversion routes were implemented to manage the traffic flow. A statement from National Highways advised motorists: "If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."
The southbound carriageway remained closed for several hours as emergency services dealt with the incident. No further details on injuries have been released at this time.
