The M5 motorway in Gloucestershire has been closed northbound following a collision in which a vehicle left the road. The closure is in place between junction 14 (Falfield) and junction 13 (Stroud), with emergency services, including Gloucestershire Police, in attendance.
National Highways traffic officers are on scene assisting with traffic management. Traffic already caught within the closure is being released, and alternative routes have been established for northbound motorists.
Drivers are advised to follow the solid triangle diversion symbol on road signs. The diversion route involves exiting the M5 northbound at junction 14, turning left onto the B4509, then right onto the A38 northbound, passing through the villages of Cambridge and Claypits, before rejoining the M5 at junction 13.
Due to the severity of the incident, a police investigation is underway, and the closure is expected to remain in place for several hours. National Highways has urged drivers to plan their journeys accordingly.
