M4 Prince of Wales Bridge Gridlocked After Two Serious Crashes

Severe delays hit the M4 near the Prince of Wales Bridge on Sunday afternoon following two serious collisions. Miles of queues were reported on the eastbound carriageway into England after a car struck the central reservation, closing two of three lanes.

Traffic monitoring service Inrix confirmed a second accident on the same stretch blocked the same lanes. At the height of the disruption, drivers faced 50-minute delays and four miles of congestion on approach.

Slow traffic also affected the westbound direction, with one lane closed to allow barrier repairs. The latest update from AA traffic planner warned eastbound drivers of 25-minute delays.

All lanes have now reopened, and traffic is beginning to ease. However, lane three on both carriageways remained closed for barrier repairs earlier, causing queuing traffic into Wales.
