M4 and major road closures in Wales this week - full list

Drivers in Wales face disruption from Sunday as maintenance work gets underway on major routes including the M4, A470 and A40, with closures and diversions in place.

Traffic Wales has published details of all the scheduled works affecting A-roads and motorways across the country. The A470 near and in Nantgarw and part of the A40 in Powys are among the routes affected, along with sections of the M4.

M4 and A470 closures

At M4 junction 35 Pencoed, the exit slip road will be closed due to clearance work. Disruption runs from September 15 until October 9 between 7pm and 6am, with diversions in place.

M4 junction 37 Pyle to junction 38 Margam will see the bridge closed for resurfacing work. The road is affected from October 2 until October 4 between 8pm and 6am, with a diversion in operation.

On the A470 at Llanrwst, both directions are closed due to resurfacing work for a 10mph convoy. Temporary traffic lights are in place and there is a width limit of 3.25m. Disruption runs from September 7 until October 24 between 7am and 2am.

A40 and A4076 works

The A470 from Abercynon to Nantgarw will see entry slip roads closed in both directions due to surveys, with one lane closed. The road is affected from September 24 until October 8 between 8pm and 6am, with diversions in place.

At the A40 Tarell roundabout, one lane is closed in both directions for A470 resurfacing work, affecting the road between September 27 and October 23 between 7pm and 6am. A further closure at the same roundabout for A470 resurfacing work runs between September 27 and October 12 between 7pm and 6am, with diversions in place.

The A4076 from Steynton to the A477 Interchange will be closed in both directions for maintenance work, affecting the road between September 29 and November 14 from 8pm to 5am.
