M25 Crash Near Heathrow Causes Severe Traffic Delays

A crash on the M25 near Romford caused severe congestion and lane closures, disrupting travellers heading to Heathrow Airport. The collision occurred between Junction 29, near Upminster, and Junction 30, near Thurrock, blocking two lanes of the orbital motorway until midday.

Traffic was temporarily brought to a standstill, but no injuries were reported, with only vehicle damage recorded. Lanes reopened around noon, and within half an hour, traffic was reportedly easing between the junctions.

The incident adds to disruption from the weekend closure of the A3, which connects thousands of motorists to the M25. Roadworks on the A3 are expected to last until Monday, forcing motorists to find alternative routes between the M25 Junction 10 and the A3 Wisley interchange.

Surrey County Council noted that Junction 10 is the busiest section of the M25, with over 270,000 vehicles daily, and has a poor safety record. Improvements are planned to reduce delays and improve safety.
