Drivers on the M25 faced significant delays this afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash between junctions 24 (Potters Bar) and 25 (Waltham Cross). One of four lanes on the clockwise carriageway was closed, leading to queues stretching up to eight miles and delays of nearly an hour.
Emergency services attended the scene, with National Highways East reporting on X: 'The M25 clockwise between J24 and J25 has one lane closed due to a multi-vehicle collision. There are delays of 52 minutes and eight miles of congestion on the approach.'
Motorway camera footage showed traffic at a standstill. Later, all lanes were reopened, but residual delays of 30 minutes and three miles of congestion remained.
National Highways confirmed the incident on social media, stating: 'All lanes have reopened following a multi-vehicle collision. There are residual delays of 30 minutes and three miles of congestion on the approach.' Drivers were advised to allow extra travel time.
