The southbound carriageway of the M20 has reopened following a multi-vehicle crash involving a van on its side. Emergency services were called to the scene between Junction 8 (Hollingbourne) and Junction 9 (Ashford) shortly before 4pm on April 19.
Kent Highways described the collision as serious, leading to the closure of the road to allow police to work at the scene. Three people were treated for injuries and taken to a local hospital; their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended with three fire engines and released one person who was handed over to paramedics. The Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex also attended.
National Highways confirmed the road had reopened just before 7pm, stating: “There are no delays on approach. Road reopened. Thank you for your patience.”
Separately, the A20 Maidstone Road, the official diversion route, was closed due to a three-vehicle crash in Hothfield near Ashford. One person was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two people were released by fire crews.
