A serious multi-vehicle collision on the M11 near Stansted Airport has led to significant traffic disruption, with delays of up to 75 minutes and four miles of congestion. The incident occurred on the southbound carriageway between junctions J9 and J8, close to the A505 at Duxford.
Cambridgeshire Police confirmed the collision involved a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and two vans. The southbound carriageway has been closed between J10 (Royston) and J9 (Newmarket), and authorities have warned it is likely to remain shut for some time while investigations continue.
National Highways has urged motorists to avoid the area and seek alternative routes. A diversion is in place, but drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys. The incident was first reported at 12:15pm on June 12.
Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward, quoting incident 219 of June 12. Traffic is expected to return to normal between 3.30pm and 3.45pm.
