Lydia Millen, the British lifestyle star known for her chic and rustic aesthetic, has expanded her property portfolio with the purchase of a picturesque 200-year-old fisherman's cottage. The 37-year-old influencer plans to transform the cozy three-bedroom home into her dream holiday retreat.
Renovation Plans Unveiled
In a YouTube video celebrating the receipt of the keys alongside her partner Ali Gordon, Millen detailed their intentions to renovate every inch of the property. The home, originally built as a practical dwelling for fishermen, features kitchen wood burners that were a key reason for the purchase. While the entire kitchen will be ripped out, the wood burner will remain untouched.
Millen expressed her fondness for the sink positioned in front of the window, noting it as a deciding factor in buying the home. She shared her dilemma over whether to install sash windows, stating, "I've got my sink which is situated in front of the window, I'm going to have to decide whether I want sash windows."
Kitchen and Interior Upgrades
The influencer revealed plans for a brand-new kitchen, ideally featuring a double arc, and the addition of a pantry unit or bar. The house requires rewiring and new heating throughout. Millen praised the existing plastered feel but expressed uncertainty about some decorative details, suggesting the addition of armchairs for comfort.
The property includes two guest bedrooms, one master bedroom, and two bathrooms. The couple intends to reorganize the bathrooms to maximize space and hopes to install a wood burner in one of the bedrooms.
Social Media Announcement
On Instagram, Millen shared her excitement: "We've just picked up the keys to our 200-year-old coastal fisherman's cottage and I've shared a full tour over on YouTube." She expressed gratitude, saying, "I feel so grateful to begin bringing this little kitchen to life, from the sink by the window to the Aga I've always dreamed of."
