London Grinds to a Halt: Full List of Tube Lines Crippled by This Week's Strike Chaos
London Tube Strike: Week of Travel Chaos Looms

London is braced for a week of travel misery and gridlocked streets as a major strike by Tube workers is set to bring the Underground network to a virtual standstill.

The 24-hour walkout, organised by the RMT union, begins this Monday, 7th October, and will cause severe disruption throughout Tuesday morning's rush hour. The union is taking action in an ongoing dispute over pay, working conditions, and potential job losses.

Which Tube Lines Are Affected?

Transport for London (TfL) has warned that the strike action will cause severe disruption or no service on the vast majority of lines. Commuters are urged to work from home if possible or prepare for significant delays and overcrowding on alternative routes.

The following lines are expected to be severely impacted:

  • Central Line: No service expected.
  • Jubilee Line: No service expected.
  • Northern Line: No service expected.
  • Piccadilly Line: No service expected.
  • Victoria Line: No service expected.

Other lines, including the Bakerloo, District, Circle, and Hammersmith & City, will also run a drastically reduced service, if any. The Elizabeth Line, London Overground, DLR, and tram services are expected to run but will be exceptionally busy.

Travel Advice for Commuters

With the Tube network crippled, London's roads and bus services are predicted to be overwhelmed. Motorists are warned to expect gridlock, and bus queues are likely to be lengthy.

TfL is advising passengers to:

  1. Avoid travelling on the Tube on Monday and before mid-morning Tuesday.
  2. Check the TfL website or app for live travel updates before setting out.
  3. Allow much more time for any essential journeys.
  4. Consider walking or cycling for shorter trips.

This strike action is a stark reminder of the city's reliance on its Underground network and is set to cause one of the most significant periods of transport disruption this year.
