Commuters in London faced travel disruption on Monday morning after a power cut affected a north London station and Tube services were partially suspended.
Power cut hits stations
Trains were unable to stop at Essex Road Station in Islington after the outage cut off its lighting. The power cut also affected Liverpool Street Station, where information boards went blank.
The outage is reported to have hit thousands of addresses.
Tube and rail disruptions
The Victoria line was partially suspended between Victoria and Brixton due to a signal failure at Brixton, with severe delays across the line while the issue was being fixed.
On the Central line, minor delays were reported across the entire line due to train cancellations, although good service later returned. The District line saw minor delays between Earl’s Court and Wimbledon due to a faulty train at Parson’s Green.
The Piccadilly line experienced minor delays between Acton Town and Heathrow Airport following an earlier track inspection and an ill person on a train at Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3. Minor delays were also reported on the entire Lioness line due to an earlier customer incident at Stonebridge Park.
Other service changes
A speed restriction was imposed on the Great Western Railway service between West Ealing and Greenford, meaning the line ran at a reduced service, according to National Rail.
Tram lines were part closed until Wednesday due to planned engineering works. TfL said there would be no eastbound service between Wandle Park and Centrale and no westbound service between Church Street and Wandle Park during this period.
