The Weaver Line on the London Overground remains suspended between Hackney Downs and Chingford until Thursday after a trackside fire in Walthamstow damaged homes and gardens. The fire occurred near Wood Street, requiring urgent repairs to the track. The rest of the line is experiencing severe delays.
Southern Trains Suspended Due to Points Failure
Southern trains between Clapham Junction and Watford Junction were suspended due to a points failure. The disruption also affected the Gatwick Express, Southern, and Thameslink networks, with multiple points failures reported between Gatwick Airport and Haywards Heath, between Uckfield and Oxted, and between Shepherds Bush and Watford Junction.
A fire next to the track at East Croydon and a tree blocking the railway between Lewes and Brighton added to the disruption. As a result, no trains will call at Balcombe in the London-bound direction, and Gatwick Express services are running only between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport. A reduced service is in place between Three Bridges and Bedford, with fewer Thameslink trains running between Three Bridges and London via Redhill, and between London and Bedford.
Level Crossing Fault and Other Delays
A level crossing fault between Wokingham and Bracknell is causing delays of up to 40 minutes for Great Western Railway and South Western Railway services between Reading and Waterloo. Additionally, a points failure between Uckfield and Oxted has blocked all lines, with trains cancelled or revised. Stations including Uckfield, Buxted, Crowborough, Eridge, Ashurst, Cowden, Hever, and Edenbridge Town have no service. Tickets are accepted on Southeastern services between Tunbridge Wells and London Bridge and on Southern services via Haywards Heath.
On the London Underground, the Jubilee line experienced minor delays due to a faulty train at West Hampstead, but service has improved. The Metropolitan line has minor delays between Moor Park and Amersham due to train cancellations. The Suffragette line on the Overground returned to normal service after severe delays earlier in the day.
Advice for Commuters
Commuters are advised to allow extra travel time and check for updates. The Weaver Line suspension is expected to last until Thursday, with severe delays on the rest of the line. Southern and Thameslink services continue to face disruptions due to points failures and other incidents.
