Carmarthenshire Council will close the B4304 Machynys Roundabout on the outskirts of Llanelli to overnight traffic for essential resurfacing works, running until next Tuesday. The closures will affect motorists from 9pm each night this week.
Overnight closures and weekend pause
The roundabout will be closed every night this week between 9pm and 5am until Saturday (August 15). A further overnight closure is scheduled from 9pm next Monday (August 17) until 5am next Tuesday (August 18). No roadworks will be carried out across the weekend.
The council says "the majority of the works will be carried out overnight" to "reduce impacts as much as possible". Access to and from Machynys Golf Club will be maintained until 10pm each evening, with extended access until 11pm on Friday August 14.
Council statement on safety and minimising disruption
Carmarthenshire Council's cabinet member for transport, waste and infrastructure services, councillor Edward Thomas, said: "These resurfacing works are essential to maintain the safety and long-term condition of this section of highway."
He added: "We recognise the importance of Machynys Golf Club to the local economy and visitor offer, and our highways team has worked closely with the club and our contractor throughout the planning process to minimise disruption wherever possible."
"By carrying out the majority of the works overnight, maintaining access arrangements and suspending activity over the weekend, we have sought to accommodate the needs of the business while ensuring these necessary improvements can be delivered safely and efficiently for the benefit of all road users."
