Liverpool Trains Disrupted After Lightning Strikes Signalling

Train passengers in Liverpool are facing disruption today after a lightning strike damaged signalling equipment, affecting services between Liverpool Lime Street and London Euston.

Lightning Strike Causes Signalling Failure

Avanti West Coast has warned of possible cancellations on the Liverpool Lime Street to London Euston route due to severe weather between Crewe and Runcorn. The lightning strike has also caused delays on services between Crewe and Liverpool South Parkway, as well as Warrington Bank Quay.

National Rail reported that all lines were blocked following the incident, with trains facing delays of up to 20 minutes or cancellations. However, services have now resumed, albeit at reduced speed across all lines due to the damaged equipment at Crewe.
