A woman has died and a nine-year-old girl is in a critical condition following a collision between a limousine and a car in Pytchley, near Kettering. The incident occurred at the junction of Wellingborough Road and Broughton Road shortly after 10pm on Tuesday.
The woman, aged in her 40s, was a passenger in the Mercedes limousine and was pronounced dead at the scene. The nine-year-old girl, also a passenger in the limousine, was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital with serious injuries. Four other passengers from the Mercedes—an adult and three children—sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital, along with an adult and a child from the Citroen DS3 involved in the crash.
Police have arrested two men in connection with the incident: a 53-year-old from Sandy, Bedfordshire, and a 22-year-old from Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. Both remain in police custody.
