The Jubilee line is experiencing severe delays on Tuesday morning due to a points failure at Wembley Park, affecting the entire line, according to Transport for London.
Train passengers are being warned of potential delays because of the hot weather, with temperatures in London forecast to reach 30C on Tuesday and 33C on Wednesday. National Rail stated that the heat may cause overhead lines to expand and sag, as well as buckled rails and trackside fires, leading to disruptions.
Station Closures and Engineering Works
Waterloo East and Charing Cross stations are both closed from July 26 until August 16 for planned engineering works. Southeastern services will be diverted to other London stations, while some will terminate at London Bridge.
There is also disruption between Peterborough and London Kings Cross due to a safety inspection of the track between Peterborough and Hitchin. Services may be delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised, with disruption expected until 1:15pm.
Signalling Fault and Trackside Fire
A signalling fault at London Bridge is causing further disruption this morning, with some lines blocked from 11am to around midday. Southeastern services are affected, with some terminating at Orpington and others diverting to Victoria.
A fire next to the track at West Norwood has ended, and trains are now running as usual. However, earlier, fewer trains were able to run, causing cancellations and delays of up to 15 minutes.
Advice for Passengers
National Rail is advising passengers to allow more time for travel as speed restrictions may come into place due to the heat. People are also advised to carry water. On Southern routes, reduced service is running between London Victoria and West Croydon via Crystal Palace, and between London Bridge and London Victoria. Passengers are advised to change at East Croydon for alternative services, use the London Overground from West Croydon and Crystal Palace, or take London buses.
