Jeep Recalls 1,834 UK Vehicles Over Fire Risk

Major car brand Stellantis has recalled 1,834 Jeep vehicles in the UK due to an electrical fault that could cause fires, even when the cars are parked. Owners are being urged to park affected vehicles outside and away from buildings and other cars until repairs are made.

Global Recall Affects Over 1.3 Million Vehicles

The recall is part of a global effort involving more than 1.3 million Jeep vehicles worldwide. The fire risk stems from faulty wiring in the electric hydraulic power steering pumps, which can overheat and ignite combustible materials. The affected models are the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator produced between 2021 and 2025.

Timeline of the Fault

Jeep first became aware of the issue in 2023 but initially closed the investigation due to a low rate of occurrence. However, after an increase in incidents, the investigation was reopened in August 2024. It took two more years to confirm the fault in April 2026. So far, one person has been injured, but no accidents have been reported.

UK Impact and Owner Guidance

In the UK, 1,834 Jeeps are affected, a small fraction compared to 1.07 million in the US, 106,000 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico, and 12,000 elsewhere. Owners will be contacted by Jeep retailers to arrange inspections and repairs, with the goal of completing fixes by July. A Stellantis spokesperson emphasized customer safety and urged owners to park away from structures until the remedy is applied.

Previous Recalls

This is not the first recall this year for Stellantis. In April, the company issued a similar recall for thousands of vehicles across brands including Peugeot, Jeep, Fiat, Citroen, and Vauxhall due to fire risks. Experts recommend checking for recalls using the manufacturer's website or the UK government's recall checker, which can be used with the vehicle's registration number or make, model, and year.
