A truckload of hot dogs spilled across Interstate-83 near Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania, on Friday, causing traffic chaos and minor injuries. The incident occurred as the morning rush hour was winding down, a few miles north of the Maryland border.
State police reported that the tractor trailer suffered a mechanical problem, pushing into a passenger vehicle before scraping along a concrete divider. The collision ripped open the trailer, scattering its contents across the highway.
Fire crews worked to clean up the strewn links, but the hot dogs were deemed unusable after hitting the road. Brad Dauberman, the Shrewsbury fire company chief, described the cleanup as challenging. “Hot dogs are very slippery,” he said. “I did not know that.”
The four injured individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. Dauberman noted that the hot dogs, now warm from the summer sun, would likely be discarded.
