Hershey Park's iconic Tidal Force ride has closed permanently after 32 years of operation. The attraction, described as 'like no other in the world,' shut at the end of the summer season in South-Central Pennsylvania.
Final Voyage and Farewell
The 32-year-old ride's closure leaves a space on The Boardwalk, a water-themed area in the park that is home to the splash zone. The ride featured a 100-foot incline before a sharp splashdown, with thrillseekers reaching speeds of 50mph as they descended and got soaked.
Hershey Park announced the closure on Facebook earlier this week, prompting visitors to share their fond memories of the attraction.
Visitor Memories
One park-goer said: "What an incredible ride! There is no other splashdown ride like it in the world. As young as I can remember, I remember seeing Tidal Force at the park and being amazed. Then when I rode it the first time I was even more amazed. It was truly one of the icons of Hershey Park. What an attraction – it'll be missed."
Another added: "I rode it 66x times in one day, September 2009. Tidal force will Always be a Hershey Park Legend."
Park Schedule
Posting about the closure previously, Hershey Park said: "When a vessel takes its last voyage, we believe it deserves a proper send-off. After 32 years of making the biggest splashes Hershey Park has seen, we'll dock the boats permanently after September 7."
The park closed on September 7 for the summer but will reopen on September 12. It will host its fifth year of Hershey Park Halloween and Dark Nights in October before reopening in December for Christmas-themed days.
