Heathrow Airport's Terminal 2 was evacuated on Tuesday morning after a suspicious item was discovered, prompting a heavy police presence. The Metropolitan Police confirmed officers were called at 10:47am following reports of an unattended bag.
Passengers were moved away from the area as a precaution, with Transport for London announcing the closure of the airport station to assist police with the security alert. Social media images showed crowds gathered outside the terminal.
A police spokesperson stated the item would be assessed by specialist officers. Heathrow apologised for the inconvenience, adding that teams were working with police to resolve the incident. By around 12:45pm, the terminal had fully reopened after police declared the incident closed.
