Motorists in Hamilton are being warned of a road closure on Muir Street over four consecutive nights starting next week. Essential improvement works will take place from Tuesday, June 16 to Saturday, June 20, between 8pm and 6am each night.
Closure Details
The road will be closed from Motehill Roundabout to Lower Auchingramont Road. Residents within the closure will be contacted with additional arrangements before the works begin.
Diversion Routes
For northbound traffic: Palace Grounds Road, Blackswell Lane, Low Patrick Street, Duke Street, Brandon Street, Union Street, Almada Street and Muir Street.
For southbound traffic: Almada Street, Union Street, Brandon Street, Auchincampbell Road, Kemp Street, Quarry Street, Duke Street, Low Patrick Street, Blackswell Lane and Palace Grounds Road.
Access to Lidl Supermarket (traffic only): Almada Street, Union Street, Brandon Street, Leechlee Road, Cadzow Street and Lower Auchingramont Road.
Council Statement
Colin Park, South Lanarkshire Council’s head of Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may occur during these essential road works. The road will reopen each morning to ensure daytime access remains unaffected. We would request that all road users allow additional time for any journeys involving Muir Street during the times indicated and that they plan their journeys accordingly. We are sure everyone will appreciate the improved condition of the road when the works are complete.”
Drivers are advised to plan ahead and use alternative routes during the closure periods.
