National Highways has confirmed a series of planned overnight closures on motorways across Greater Manchester between Monday, September 28, and Thursday, October 1. The closures will affect sections of the M6, M60, M62, M56, M61 and A34.
Monday, September 28 closures
On Monday, closures include the M6 northbound between junctions 20 and 21, with entry and exit slip road closures at junctions 20 and 21. The M60 will see anti-clockwise entry slip closures at junction 1 and exit slip closures at junction 3, while clockwise exit slip closures are planned at junctions 3 and 8.
The M62 eastbound will close between junctions 9 and 10, with entry slip closures at junction 9 and link road closures to the M6 northbound and southbound. The M67 eastbound and westbound will close between junctions 3 and 4, with slip road closures at junction 3.
Tuesday, September 29 closures
Tuesday brings similar closures on the M6 northbound between junctions 20 and 21, plus entry and exit slip closures at junction 22. The M60 will see anti-clockwise carriageway closures at junction 25 between exit and entry slips, with clockwise exit slip closures at junctions 3 and 8.
On the M61, southbound closures include the link to the M65 eastbound and exit slip closures at junctions 3 and 8, while northbound slip closures are planned at junction 5. The M62 eastbound will close between junctions 9 and 10 again, with westbound link closures to the M6 northbound and a link closure from junction 18 to the M60 clockwise.
Wednesday, September 30 closures
On Wednesday, the M6 southbound will close between junctions 21a and 20, with entry and exit slip closures at junction 21. The M6 northbound will see entry and exit slip closures at junction 23. The M60 will close anti-clockwise between junctions 14 and 13, with an exit slip closure at junction 13, plus the standard junction 3 exit slip closures.
The M62 eastbound will close between junctions 22 and 24, with entry slip closures at junction 22 and exit slip closures at junctions 23 and 24. The M62 westbound will close between junctions 9 and 8, with entry and exit slip closures at junctions 9 and 8.
Thursday, October 1 closures
On Thursday, the M6 southbound will close between junctions 30 and M61 junction 9, as well as between junctions 21a and 20, with slip closures at junction 21. The M6 northbound will close between junctions 15 and 16, with entry and exit slip closures at junctions 24 and 25.
The M60 clockwise will close between junctions 25 and 26, with an exit slip closure at junction 26. The M61 southbound will see closures including the link to the M65 eastbound, slip closures at junction 5, and a dedicated lane closure at junction 6. The M62 eastbound will close between junctions 22 and 24, with westbound closures between junctions 9 and 8.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys during these overnight closures.
