Glasgow-Paisley Canal Line Closed: All Trains Cancelled Until July 13
Glasgow-Paisley Canal Line Closed: All Trains Cancelled

All trains on the busy Glasgow Central to Paisley Canal railway line have been cancelled from Saturday, July 11 until Monday, July 13, 2026, due to essential drainage works. ScotRail has urged passengers to plan ahead as the line closure causes travel chaos for commuters.

Alternative Transport Options

ScotRail is offering alternative train services via nearby Paisley Gilmour Street or Maxwell Park at no extra cost. Tickets valid from Paisley Canal can also be used on McGill’s 38 and 38A buses via Paisley Road West. A ScotRail spokesperson wrote on X: “Our Paisley Canal line is closed until Monday 13th, July 2026 due to drainage works meaning no services will operate between Glasgow Central and Paisley Canal. Rail tickets can be used at no extra cost on McGill’s 38 / 38A buses between Paisley and Glasgow.”

Advice for Passengers

Passengers are advised to check ScotRail’s website or app for the latest updates and to allow extra time for their journeys. The rail operator has apologised for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience during the essential maintenance work.
