Fatal Collision in Kvasyliv
Four people have died after a train collided with a minibus in the town of Kvasyliv, located in Ukraine's north-western Rivne region. The incident occurred at approximately 1:55 p.m. local time (11:55 a.m. UK time) on July 2, 2026.
Emergency crews remain at the scene, providing medical assistance to the injured. Police initially reported three fatalities but later updated the death toll to four.
Police Statement
In a social media statement, the Rivne Region Police said: “A traffic accident involving a train and a shuttle bus occurred today, July 2, around 13:55 in the village of Kvasiliv. Police and all emergency services are working at the scene. Three dead are known at the moment. In addition, there are injured people who are being given the necessary medical care. The circumstances of the tragedy are setting in. Further information will be announced later.”
In a later update, the force confirmed: “According to preliminary data, the death toll from the collision of a train with a minibus has increased to four.”
Investigation Underway
The circumstances behind the crash are being established, according to reports from Ukrinform. Several people sustained injuries and are receiving medical treatment. Authorities have not yet released details on the identities of the victims or the exact cause of the collision.
